Anthropic is asking Wall Street to believe in AGI
Anthropic has filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering, and the latest episode of The Verge's Decoder features SemiAnalysis analyst Joey Brookhart walking through the filing's financials and strategic implications. Anthropic said it intends to list its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market. The filing would make Anthropic one of the first frontier AI labs to pursue a public listing, putting its revenue, costs and risk disclosures on the record and creating a reference point other AI companies raising capital can be measured against. Anthropic's own announcement describes the document as a registration statement relating to a proposed IPO, meaning the offering has not yet been priced or completed. The Decoder episode is an interview with Brookhart analyzing the S-1's numbers rather than a report of new disclosures from the company.

Anthropic is burning gas to feed the AI boom
Anthropic's public S-1 filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday discloses that its data center buildout is increasingly reliant on natural gas, and states that "competition for access to electrical supply and data center locations with adequate power availability is intense." The filing also sets out plans to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker ANT. The filing makes AI's energy supply and climate exposure an explicit risk factor for public-market investors ahead of a frontier lab's listing, rather than a background concern raised by outside critics. The quoted language appears as a risk disclosure rather than a committed procurement plan. Coverage of the same filing noted that roughly one-fifth of Anthropic's revenue came from two customers.
